2017-03-25 A Health Canada lie on Marketplace last night

1)    Overall, the Marketplace program last night was very effective – although as always we want more included. But there was one thing that we cannot let stand. I have written to Minister Philpott and cc’d Wendy Mesley [see below in Letters]. I believe we need to demand a retraction of this statement which cannot be substantiated. It is a lie – and shows Health Canada for what it is – an industry hack.  I hope you will write and express your concerns, too. It’s time Health Canada stopped lying to the public they are supposed to protect.

2)    This article was written to help companies improve Wi-Fi reception by giving “hints” about what is killing their Wi-Fi. We can take hints from this that will help us kill the Wi-Fi signals. Note that one “killer” is the human body which absorbs the signals. The recommendation is to have the modems in the ceiling so nothing can interfere with the microwave radiation. I’ve been told that many modems in school rooms are in the ceiling so that the child’s body is getting the full blast.

3)    An excellent YouTube about bills that are being presented in Massachusetts that range from right to know about what cell phone manuals say to utility customers’ rights to protect children in schools. The bills can be read at:

During discussions with politicians wanting our votes, we should take the opportunity to raise these issues, get commitments that, if elected, they would meet with you, read information provided, and consider presenting similar bills in BC.

Subject: Marketplace exposes Health Canada lie

Dear Hon. Health Minister Philpott.

On Friday, March 24, 2017, CBC’s Marketplace broadcast a program called “The secret inside your cellphone” which spoke about how the cell phone industry is misleading its customers.  It exposed how customers are not told about how to use their phones and how Health Canada is failing to protect the public. Due to various constraints, Ms. Mesley couldn’t address all of the issues, but shockingly you did not respond to any of her questions. Marketplace did not have the time to tell people that Health Canada’s guidelines are among the weakest in the world. Even China, Russia and India allow their citizens to be exposed to mere fractions of the levels of RF allowed by Safety Code 6.

But worst of all is the dangerously misleading statement told, blatantly, by Health Canada that is included in this screen shot. “EVEN IF A SMALL CHILD WERE EXPOSED TO A CELL PHONE… 24 HOURS A DAY, 365 DAYS A YEAR … THERE WOULD BE NO ADVERSE HEALTH EFFCT.

Based upon the hundreds of studies I’ve read, this statement is a lie. No scientist, even industry scientists, would say that microwave radiation is safe. Minister Philpott, do you support this, and agree that this is the information that should be given to parents who are looking for guidance?

What is the basis for this statement? Are you willing to put your name to it? If you are not, and if you cannot give me scientific evidence to support this statement then you MUST retract it from the CBC Marketplace program and delete it from all of Health Canada’s references.

With deep concern,
Sharon Noble

Subject: Commenting for CBC Marketplace

Hi folks,

I am sure most of you watched the excellent Marketplace program last night on CBC. I plan to send a ‘thank you’ to Wendy Mesley’ at some point soon.

After the programming, I tweeted some supportive links/comments but noticed that the commenting section was still closed on the CBC site. (Might be a good thing depending on how one looks at the situation. Naysayers will become frustrated at that!) However, for those of you who still wish to comment in support of the program (or in rebuttal to negative comments), I have found a direct link to a YouTube upload from Joel Moskowitz’s twitter account. You will have to sign in to YouTube in order to comment, though.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wm69ik_Qdb8&feature=youtu.be

I now plan to write back to my MP (who sent me the typical HC form response after the last C4ST campaign) and ask her to watch the CBC program. I will ask her to also follow up by requesting that her boss, Jane Philpott, do her job and start mandating direct safe use instructions to the public for phones, iPads, and laptops. Parroting the same form letter BS used by the previous Canadian Health Minister will not cut it. Philpott had better go back and read all of those studies sent to her by C4ST. (Maybe that was what she was doing when she could not be reached by CBC for comment.)

After the program, I couldn’t help but reflect on how our government (and society) is letting down our kids. They (along with EHS sufferers) are going to pay the heaviest price. No one knows this better than those of us working in wifi-saturated schools where multiple devices are in operation and see students sitting in classrooms and hallways wearing their technology. Wireless technology is not going away, we get that. However, the EMF nature of a classroom and/or school is different than any other public or private building in society. It would be great if the naysayers were right. Sadly, we know they are not.

X

Subject: Marketplace — The secret inside your phone

Dear Ms. Mesley,

Thank you so much for this program, and for sharing this vital information with the Canadian public.

I have been involved with spreading the word on the topic of microwave radiation associated with cell phones, cell towers, wifi and smart meters for more than 13 years. As you said so well, the scientific evidence that shows potential harmful effects has been available since various militaries did studies during WW II. This technology was initially going to be limited to military use, but somehow the technology escaped this Pandora’s box.

No studies have ever shown that prolonged exposure to microwave radiation, even at low levels, is safe. Yet the industry has influenced the decisions made by the authority on whom we depend to set guidelines: World Health Organization. Many scientific groups and individuals are calling on the WHO to rid itself of those who have conflicts of interest as they are reviewing the current guidelines and science. WHO influences our agencies such as Health Canada, our provincial health authorities, and the cancer societies. These agencies depend on receiving guidance from the WHO, but they can’t and shouldn’t.

As a consequence, the proliferation of wireless devices is virtually uncontrolled. Wifi is being mandated for public schools by provincial educational ministries.  Utilities are forcing customers to have wireless smart meters on their homes, without choice, if they want the essential service. Small/microcells are being put on poles outside our homes, sometimes a few feet from bedroom windows, without telling the residents or consulting with the local municipal councils.

More people are becoming sensitive, and many are becoming ill, often not realizing that it is the electro-smog in our environment and their love of wireless gadgets that are responsible. Programs such as the most recent Marketplace are desperately needed to help people become aware.  I certainly hope that you will not wait another 20 years before doing another one.

Sincere thanks.

Subject: att Wendy Mesley — re cell phones, etc.

I became electro hyper sensitive ten years ago. Possibly due to a couple of brain MRI’s? We’ll never know I suppose. My condition is getting worse by the year, as more and more electromagnetic radiation technologies are rolled out.

For example, here in West Vancouver there are new micro cells – 2 per block – in downtown WV. That is in addition to countless other cell towers. This effort to make communications instantaneous means that I can’t go to the area anymore without my blood pressure spiking by 60 points from a normal 120.

My cell phone is off, unless I need to call someone. We did not have this technology 20 years ago, and guess what, life went on fine!

But of course it does not stop at cell phones: we have wifi in schools, in every restaurant, even in our National Parks campsites, I am told!

Thousands of independent scientific studies world wide document how this technology causes cell inflammation, and this is now known to be the cause of all degenerative diseases from cancer to Alzheimers. Unfortunately degenerative diseases take time to manifest, in some cases ten years, even more. However, the statistics are beginning to show up in the case of cell phone users in significant increases of cancers near where cell phones are held.

Good for you Wendy! We need more informative reports as the one you are planning for tonight!

We need to stop this overuse of an unsafe technology before it overtakes tobacco and asbestos as a world wide disaster!

x
