2)    A really good article from an independent media source that is primarily concerned with the environment, food, and animal rights. This could reach a very important audience.

Our Cellphone Addiction Is Turning Wireless Tech Into an Invisible Weapon That’s Destroying Wildlife.

“The researchers said that “evidence is accumulating that mammals (e.g., bats and mice) have a magnetic sense” that is affected by radio-frequency-modulated electromagnetic fields (RF-EMR). Birds in particular may be highly susceptible. The researchers found that even weak magnetic fields in the radio frequency range can disrupt birds’ magnetoreception, their ability to use the Earth’s magnetic fields to orient themselves and find their way home.

Homing pigeons are well-known for their magnetoreception, but this sense has also been detected in other animals, like red foxes, and there is evidence that even large mammals like deer use the planet’s magnetic fields to sense direction. A number of invertebrates, including worms, mollusks and fruit flies also use this ability.”

3)    A member shared this article which is so relevant, especially now that digital addiction is becoming a topic of discussion. People of all ages are missing the world around them, including their families and friends, all because of the small screen they cannot be without. But children are so very vulnerable, not only to the radiation to which they are exposed but also to the lack of interaction with real people in the real world.

https://aeon.co/essays/children-learn-best-when-engaged-in-the-living-world-not-on-screens

Look Up From Your Screen

“Placing children in front of screens enables them to access information, meet people around the world, play games, read things, purchase things and so forth that would otherwise be inaccessible. But as an ‘interaction ritual’, screen learning generates less emotional energy than sharing a physical space with other teachers and students. Students looking at a screen will not trust, or care about, their teachers or students to the same degree. People might speak their mind more freely when there aren’t the same visual cues to hold their tongues, but this also means that people are more likely to be uninhibited and antagonistic. People will not have the same investment in an online education community…

If the move to digital learning continues, children will spend much, if not most, of their waking hours in front of screens. They will use apps before they go to school, spend their days in front of computers, do their homework online, and then entertain themselves with digital media. Children are losing opportunities to experience the world in all its richness. The gestalt of a farm transcends what pixels and speakers can convey. Screens drain the vitality from many educational experiences that could be better done in the flesh. This drift toward screen learning is only inevitable if people do nothing to stop it. So let’s stop it.”

4)    More info on the study by Susan Foster, concerning the health problems experienced by firefighters who had cell towers on or near their firehalls, included in a letter Susan wrote to California State legislators about 5G technology and microcells.  If tough, strong, large firefighters became ill after exposure to very low levels of RF, what will happen to children, the elderly and the infirm when exposed to microcells emitting strong signals right outside their homes?

5G Microcell : Small Cell Towers – Firefighters – SB649 – Susan Foster’s Letter to California Gov. Jerry Brown
– http://fearlessparent.org/cell-tower-hypocrisy-rescuing-firefighters-not-kids/

Firefighters living next to cell towers suffer severe neurological damage. Emission levels were only .1% – .2% of FCC “safe” exposure limits

“The fire station cell tower measured at 1 to 2/1000th of the allowable FCC limit of non-ionizing radiation. That means the towers could be almost 1000 times more powerful than the level the firefighters were exposed to, and still be considered within FCC guidelines. And yet even at these “low” levels of radiation, we found brain abnormalities and measurable neurological deficits…

With SB 649 the risks continue for all, and then the question becomes what benefits can possibly be gained that outweigh the considerable risks imposed by this technology proliferating at a speed far greater than our bodies’ ability to adapt? Who is going to be liable for the health damages, loss of life, fire damages, and property devaluation?…

I contacted Sen. Hueso’s office for clarification on liability, as some attorneys have told me liability will rest in large part with the state. I was told by the state that liability rests with the cities/counties. I was told by the cities they don’t want to accept liability if they lose all local control and are forced by the state to lease out their land to telecom. In addition, a telecom lobbyist’s brief assertion to Sen. Hueso that the companies are responsibility is a reflection of each company’s limit per occurrence only.”

Subject: Re: CBC Reply RE: Ethical press?

Dear Ms. Wood,

Allow me to insert a portion of my reply into some of the text of Ms. Lindsay’s poorly researched story on EHS and boy T.

But the reason the boy was isolated was that his mother and grandmother insisted he needed to be kept away from the electromagnetic fields (EMFs) generated by Wi-Fi, cellphones and other electronics.

No opportunity was given for the mother and grandmother to explain their side of the story.  Ms. Lindsay made them look like luddites and ignorant fools.  Why was their side of the story left out?

Smart Meter class action lawsuit against BC Hydro denied.

Did your reporter know that at the Fortis hearing with the BC Utilities Commission, two electrical engineers with no medical education received greater believability on biological questions than Drs. Carpenter MD and Maret MD, of which both have extensive knowledge on the biological effects of EMF?  Dr. Karl Maret MD, incidentally, also holds a degree in electrical engineering.  Both physicians have spent years researching this subject, but the government chose to believe engineers instead.  One of the engineers, who was given so much trust by the BCUC, is none other than the infamous lobbyist, Mr. William Bailey from Exponent.  Exponent made a name defending the indefensible industries, such as tobacco.

Is your reporter aware that BC Hydro [BCH] is allowed to deceive the public with impunity? BCH deliberately lied to thousands of people, including myself, and our government refused to respond!  This clearly illustrates that criminal intent is OK in BC!

He (Rilkoff) urged the family to consult with objective medical professionals to determine the cause of the boy’s symptoms.

The Austrian Medical Association pointed out, in their EMF guideline for the diagnosis and treatment of EMF related health problems (EMF syndrome), that the vast majority of physicians are ill equipped to make an accurate analysis, due to a lack of education in this new field, which often result in unnecessary medications.

No Scientific Evidence

This statement is stunningly biased!  Your reporter should have checked out scientific reality.

The American Academy of Environmental Medicine:  “The evidence is irrefutable!”

– As of July 3, 2018, 242 EMF scientists from 41 nations signed the International EMF Scientists Appeal.  Combined, this group published 2000 peer reviewed studies on EMF, proving harm, urging all member states to provide greater protections of the public from EMFs.

International Doctors Appeal 2012:  “Scientific studies repeatedly demonstrate that electromagnetic fields can impair self regulation and cause adverse biological impacts”.

In fact, in studies where EHS sufferers have been intentionally exposed to EMFs, they did not exhibit symptoms of the condition or even detect they were being exposed, according to Health Canada.

Canada’s archaic and non protective Safety Code 6 was intended for short visits to industrial sites only.  Not for children.  Code 6 only considers thermal effects, and disregards biological effects, according their own testimony at a Quebec Superior Court hearing.

Biophysicist Dr. Martin Blank, who is very familiar with HC, informed at the HESA Committee in Ottawa that they do not use real WiFi or cell tower antennas in their provocation studies.  Instead, they use a device that SIMULATES!  For a scientist, this is considered deliberate falsification of science.

Now a teenager, T isn’t allowed to eat at restaurants because of the potential for EMF exposure, and his only regular social interaction is a weekly trip to a farm with other Fawkes students, according to the decision.

Since my wife suffers from severe EHS as well, we have not visited any restaurants for many years, not even birthday celebrations.  Isolation is one of the side effects of EHS.  We know of about 10 other EHS sufferers who are in the same position.

Who is affected with EHS?

Former prime ministers, police chiefs, airline pilots, judges, IT engineers, politicians, corporate executives, concert musicians, students, physicians, lab technicians, teachers, actors, scientists, singers, firemen, writers, photographers, builders, soldiers, computer designers, homemakers, nurses, architects, lawyers, students, heads of corporations, little children, etc.

After reading through your reporter’s article for a second time, I am even more dismayed that all she did was copy governmental websites.  Your reporter appears too young to remember the many dismal failures of Health Canada to protect the public.

A refresher:  Thalidomide, lead, asbestos, formaldehyde and a host of other bio toxins were 100% safe according to HC.  According to them, even smoking was safe and doctors prescribed smoking for moms to be.

Long forgotten is the bovine (mad cow disease) fiasco, as government officials considered feeding dead animals to cows as perfectly safe.  The tainted blood scandal is also long forgotten and the Aids crisis, which turned into a global health fiasco, was proclaimed a minor event by HC officials, publicly on CBC TV.  No one was held accountable for their dismal failures to protect the public!

Health Canada battled their very own scientist in court to prevent science from leaking out.  HC lost the case after spending millions of taxpayers dollars.

This stunning incompetence of governments is vividly illustrated by the current Phoenix Payroll Scandal that will require billions of dollars to correct.

Visiting government websites can hardly be accepted as true CBC investigative journalism.  If your reporter would have done some digging, she would have come to the sobering realization that the Canadian Government receives billons of dollars in revenue through airwave auctions from the wireless industry, the very same industry they are supposed to be scrutinizing and govern.  Sadly, Ms. Lindsay’s story reads as if it was written by an industry lobbyist, or a young person who is blinded by wireless technology.  Clearly, her story did not reflect any of the impartiality, which used to differentiate CBC journalists from the rest.

I urge CBC reporters to contact scientists with no affiliation to industry, such as Canada’s highly esteemed Dr. Anthony Miller, Professor, Toronto University, Dr. Magda Havas, Assistant Professor at Trent University, or Dr. Riina Brae, Medical Director at the Environmental Health Clinic at the Women’s College Hospital in Toronto, who treats many patients suffering from electro hypersensitivity (EHS).

Incidentally, the world renowned Paracelsus Clinic in Switzerland has treated seven thousand patients who suffer from EHS, of which most come from North America.

Physicians for Safe Technology, provides excellent and easily understandable information, including the latest in EMF science research, for those who seek a better understanding of this exploding man-made health crisis:  https://mdsafetech.org/

Make no mistake, electrohypersensitivity can strike anyone, at any age, as happened to my wife.  EHS is a natural response of the body to an unnatural environment.

Kind regards,
Marcus Schluschen

Subject: CBC Reply RE: Ethical press?

Mr. Schluschen –

Your complaint to the Values and Ethics Commissioner was forwarded to me by CBC Ombudsman Esther Enkin on July 24, 2018 in regards to Bethany Lindsay’s story on July 17, 2018 detailing a decision by the BC Human Rights Tribunal in the case of a family’s fight to have part of a school in Saanich designated “wifi free.”

https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/no-proof-b-c-boy-s-migraines-caused-by-wi-fi-tribunal-rules-1.4749336

In your letter to our reporter Bethany Lindsay, you say her story was “unfortunately not well researched and void of journalistic balance.” You tell Ms. Lindsay that if she “had been diligent in your research regarding electro hypersensitivity, and the dangers of wireless technologies, especially for children, you would have learned of” deep concerns about EMF technology. You suggest a nefarious link between the BC Human Rights Tribunal and Canada’s telecommunications companies, and urge the CBC to “do an investigative story on the perils of wireless technologies.” You also ask Ms. Lindsay to “apologize to the family in your last report.”

As the News Director for CBC British Columbia, I am happy to respond to your concerns.

The CBC’s commitment to fair and impartial journalism is laid out in our Journalistic Standards and Practices:

Our mission is to inform, to reveal, to contribute to the understanding of issues of public interest and to encourage citizens to participate in our free and democratic society.

We provide professional judgment based on facts and expertise. We do not promote any particular point of view on matters of public debate.

I regret that you are disappointed by the CBC in this instance. The debate around wireless technologies and the consequences to human health can be a heated one, and one that you clearly care passionately about. I fully understand why you would want a reporter to explore that debate as part of the entire story, and as a way of reaching a more complete version of the truth.

With respect, though, in this instance our reporter was not tasked with investigating all the facts in this Tribunal case. She was reporting on what the Tribunal ruled. Part of our job is to share with our audience the findings of our public institutions, including the BC Human Rights Tribunal. That is all we did here. For better or worse, we invest in tribunals to determine facts and findings in various disputes, and reporting on the results is a form of responsible journalism, much the same as reporting on a judgement in a court case or a ruling from a parole board. You may not agree with the decision, but in the context of the Tribunal ruling and the member’s comments, we reported the situation accurately.

I don’t know that we will choose to revisit this story and investigate the facts around EMFs and any links to adverse health effects or the interests of the telecommunications industry. But if we do, of course we would want to speak to as many people as possible.

Finally, it is also my responsibility to tell you that if you are not satisfied with my response, you may wish to ask the CBC Ombudsman to review the matter. The Office of the Ombudsman, an independent and impartial body reporting directly to the President, is responsible for evaluating program compliance with the CBC’s journalistic policies. The Ombudsman may be reached by telephone at 416-205-2978, or by mail at Box 500, Terminal A,Toronto, Ontario M5W 1E6, or by fax at (416) 205-2825, or by e-mail at ombudsman@cbc.ca.

Thank you again for your email.
