1) Oddly, I cannot copy anything from this article which explains how info from our smeter, etc. allows others to know what we are doing and when.

Smart Grids, Smart Meters, Smart Switches will allow utilities to spy on its customers
2) In the USA, groups are looking seriously at the need for laws specific to privacy and data gathering by smeters. This article is from 2010 when the Clean Energy Act was passed. The government and BC Hydro had to know (or certainly should have) that this would become a major issue. But then the health and fire concerns were raised by many too, especially in California, and they were ignored.
Interview with EFF: How Smart Meters Violate our Right to Privacy (EFF stands for Electronic Frontier Foundation)
“LT: It’s not just utilities who will have access to your data. It’s potentially a series of third party corporations including (but not limited to) the utility’s contractors and government agencies. Law enforcement agencies in particular are very keen to be able to see this information. There have already been a lot of cases where utility records have been provided to police who use them to bust marijuana growing operations, and this is simply using the raw energy use data.
With the sheer amount of information that is being amassed by these smart meters, the potential for extensive data mining is huge. The FBI could have a detailed picture of your everyday life. Were you at home at a particular time when a crime was committed for example? They could potentially cross-reference lists of activists’ home energy use and see who might have been home or at a protest for example.
Insurance companies and employers might also be interested in your personal energy usage information. Smart meters crack open this door into your private life, making available a huge amount of very personal data. The question is where will the line be drawn. Remember that the Supreme Court has said that “In the home… all details are intimate details, because the entire area is held safe from prying government eyes.””
3) In the USA, telecoms are being given major tax breaks while increasing rates across the board. I bet the same thing is happening in Canada as Shaw, Telus, etc. increase rates while providing questionable service.
AT&T, Verizon, Comcast and Charter Got $58.8 Billion in Tax Benefits: We Want Lower Rates — Now!
“America’s consumers and businesses are under attack, not only from outrageous tax breaks to already rich corporations, commonly known as the so-called ISPs, but they are being doubly assisted by the FCC.
And AT&T et al. are, of course, laughing all the way to the bank due to the current Trump and FCC tax and regulatory policies.
Randall Stephenson, AT&T’s CEO, told investors in the company’s 4th Quarter 2017 earnings presentation — it’s a remarkable year because of the “major policy achievements”.”
4) A Duncan doctor presents concerns about the proliferation of cell towers to the City Council and faces a cool reception. I tried to make comments on the page but it wouldn’t allow me, so I wrote the author a short note which I hope he will consider. Please consider doing the same. We need more doctors to speak out.
Duncan doctor raises health impacts of cell towers
Stephen Faulkner concerned about Safety Code 6

Subject: Dr. Faulkner raises concerns re. cell towers
Dear Mr. Barron,
I tried unsuccessfully to add my comment to your online article so I decided to write you directly. Hopefully you will provide more info on this important topic to your readers.
Dr. Faulkner should be applauded for presenting this information to Duncan’s Council and thank you, Mr. Barron, for allowing the public to read about it. I hope you will consider sharing my letter.
There are more than 23,000 studies that show harm from prolonged exposure to even very low doses. Early studies were done in the 1940s and 1950s, “studying radiation sickness”. The US Air Force continued with studies in the 1960s and ’70s which were declassified not long ago. One of the scientists who worked on these studies is retired Dr. Zory Glaser and he donated them to Dr. Magda Havas. There are more than 2,000 on her website www.magdahavas.com under “Zory’s Archives“. [http://www.magdahavas.com/category/from-zorys-archive/]
Many independent scientists from around the world warn wireless radiation is the next tobacco. Sadly the Canadian and BC Cancer Societies are not providing the current scientific evidence on their sites. Misinformation is worse than none at all when people are concerned about their health.
Health Canada’s Safety Code 6 is one of the weakest (least protective) guidelines in the world, being many times higher than some countries. Even Russia’s and China’s guidelines are fractions of Canada’s. Experts have described it as obsolete because it does not apply to the type of radiation emitted by cell towers or wireless devices. Even Dr. James McNamee, one of the lead researchers at HC [Health Canada], acknowledged this when under oath.
Petitions signed by hundreds of well-respected researchers have been sent to the United Nations out of concern for children who are so very vulnerable due to their small size and growing bodies.
There are many people in British Columbia who are working to make homes, schools, and workplaces safer by reducing the level of microwave radiation to which they are exposed many hours each day without knowing the consequences.
